About the Icons
A Monthly Wine Club Selection
This classic Rioja has a beautiful garnet robe and a deceptively subtle nose showing soft blackberry fruit, dusty earth and a hint of spice. The complex palate shows boysenberry, black cherry and red currant with a hint of cacao, firm tannins and a beautiful herbal note. A delightful wine, very well balanced, the acid supports a rather long, fruited finish.

2019 Blacksmith C.L.R.T. Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California (750ml)
About the Icons
Blacksmith has, over multiple vintages now, been one of our most dependable suppliers of Napa Cabernet under $30, an increasingly rare commodity. It is usually more than 75% Cabernet, with the balance a mix of other Bordeaux varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Franc in percentages that vary slightly from vintage to vintage. C.L.R.T. stands for claret, the old term that was historically used for red wines from Bordeaux.

A Monthly Wine Club Selection
This wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc produced from 25-year-old vines. The grapes were hand-harvested, carefully sorted and gently pressed. The must was cold-fermented in a temperature-controlled stainless steel tank and aged on its fine lees. The resulting wine was gently filtered prior to bottling. Fresh and focused, it shows refreshing aromas and flavors of tart citrus fruit, candied grapefruit, with hints of celery leaf and nettle.
2020 Mas de Gourgonnier Rouge, Les Baux de Provence AOP, France (750ml)
About the Icons
A Monthly Wine Club Selection
If we are going to talk seriously about “natural” wines, then we will have to include Mas de Gourgonnier in the conversation. Back in the 1970s, this family estate, located in the heart of Provence, was one of the first officially certified organic wineries. Back then, such an idea was seen as fiscally foolish for winegrowers if they actually wanted to make a living. However, Mas de Gourgonnier’s organic roots go back even further. Since the eighteenth century, the Cartier family has worked these fields, providing the local abbey with freshly grown fruits, vegetables and grain; but it wasn’t until in the 1950s that they planted their first vines. The rest is history. Mas de Gourgonnier doesn’t have to “sell” a natural philosophy; it’s simply who they are, and who they’ve always been. This purity of focus and flavor is still true today, under the winemaking of Luc Cartier and his daughter, Eve.
2020-C 2020 Yohan Lardy Les Bruyères Beaujolais-Villages Blanc AOP, France (750ml)

A Monthly Wine Club Selection
Bright golden robe. Inviting aromas of ripe stone fruit set against chalky minerality. The palate is fresh, crisp and pure, showing an exotic medley of flavors: yellow peach, quince and dragon fruit, tempered with a charming floral note. Beautiful texture all the way through with mouthwatering acidity and a bright, juicy finish. A beautiful example of Chardonnay’s potential for both delicacy and complexity!
