A first generation Mexican American, Lalo began his career in the wine industry after graduating with top honors from the Le Cordon Bleu School of Culinary Arts. Soon after he moved to Portland, Oregon where he landed his first wine gig working with Teutonic Wine Company, a boutique family owned winery producing artisanal, small production wines. There he spent time in the vineyards and the cellar growing his love, knowledge and thirst for all things wine. Since then he has gone on to earn three different sommelier certifications and work harvest in several different wine regions, stateside and abroad. Throughout the course of his relatively short career in the world of wine he has also worked for notable Sonoma wineries such as Patz and Hall and Arista. As part of the Private Client Division of iconic retailer Dean & Deluca, he conducted private customized wine tastings and consulted on the cultivation and inventory management of privately-owned cellars. Prior to settling in Northern California, Lalo has been fortunate enough to live in Los Angeles, New York, Buenos Aires and London. In 2016 he joined the prominent team of Oxbow Cheese & Wine Merchant and Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant.

Born December 25th, 1956 in Brooklyn NY. The best Christmas present my mom ever got! After being paroled from college in 1974 I traveled around counting bubbles and bartending till I found my heart in SF – 1988. Then in 2005 I found FPWM and took over as Controller and Chief Bubble Counter.
