2021 La Follette Chardonnay 'Los Primeros,' Sonoma Coast, California (750ml)   

Owners Pete and Terri Kight have had a life-long personal interest in wine, and the nature of grape growing, leading them on a perpetual quest for wines with a sense of place. They own both La Follette and Quivera wineries.

Under the leadership of Pete and Terri, La Follette produces distinguished vineyard-designated and appellation Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that take their voice from the sites in which they are grown. The producer says, "Look for stony minerality on the entry of this lovely Chardonnay, leading to subtle hints of cream and white peaches, balanced by a clean, bright finish. Using a judicious use of oak and minimal handling of the wine, has yielded a polished, yet dynamic Chardonnay." We say there is rather more oak here than suggested, and if you gravitate to richer, heavily oaked Chardonnay you will love this. And find it a great value as well.
